Dr. Hazany founded the Scar Healing Institute with a goal in mind: to revise and remodel scars of all kinds. While he is an extensively trained Mohs Micrographic Dermatologic Surgeon, he firmly believes that his highly specialized training and innovative mindset can help patients achieve new confidence that will last them a lifetime.
Many people view scars as a purely cosmetic issue, but Dr. Hazany has seen firsthand how this is not the case. His ambitions stem from his father, who grew up with severe cystic acne covering his entire face, drawing ridicule from his childhood bullies. Although his acne eventually resolved, the scars left behind served as painful and traumatic memories of his past. After allowing his scars chip away at his confidence and self-esteem for decades, he eventually sought treatment for his scars in hope of a new beginning. When Dr. Hazany was a boy, his father came home one day with his face completely wrapped in cloth. A dermatologist had given him harsh laser treatment that burned through his skin. Although his face recovered, his scars remained nearly as deep and wide as they originally were. Since then, Dr. Hazany has made it his mission to ensure that people like his father would never have to go through anything similar and instead receive treatment that works.
Dr. Hazany’s Scar Healing Institute was established with this framework in mind. We aim to provide (1) evidence-based treatments for scars, (2) a curated system you can trust, and (3) results you can see and touch. The Scar Healing Institute is here for your scarring and skin needs, and we are excited to be a part of your journey.

Dr. Hazany has been immersed in the world of medicine since a very young age. As a boy, he would listen to his father, a psychiatrist, tell stories about his patients and their journeys towards mental rehabilitation. The level of compassion and empathy that was obvious in his father’s clinical and personal approach to people has remained an inspiration to Dr. Hazany to this very day.
Dr. Hazany’s path towards medicine began at UCLA, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in neuroscience. He then pursued his medical degree at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, where he has won several awards and scholarships from medical institutions, such as the highly prestigious Mayo Clinic and the National Institute of Health.
After graduating in the top 1% of his class, Dr. Hazany was accepted into the highly selective surgery internship at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta Georgia. After finishing his training here, Dr. Hazany went on to complete his training in medical and surgical dermatology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, quickly climbing to the rank of Chief Resident from 2013 to 2014. Shortly after, he was officially inducted as an associate member of the American Society of Dermatological Surgery and a diplomat for the American Board of Dermatology.
Dr. Hazany then completed his final phase of training to become a highly specialized Mohs micrographic surgeon, cosmetic dermatologist, and laser surgeon under the guidance of world-renowned surgeon Dr. Leonard Goldberg at the Houston Methodist Hospital. Up until this point in his career, Dr. Hazany had already been published in several high-profile scientific journals in the field of dermatology and plastic surgery and won “Best Oral Presentation” twice at the Cosmetic
Dr. Hazany credits his highly extensive training in Mohs surgery for his expertise in scar treatment. As a Mohs surgeon, he is able to closely examine the skin and observe how scar tissue behaves much differently from healthy tissue. Although he is highly respected for his efficient and seamless cancer removal and suturing techniques, he is especially well-known for applying his deep understanding of scar physiology to pioneer a stepwise treatment process for both acne and non-acne scar patients.
When it comes to treating scars, Dr. Hazany believes in a highly tailored, longitudinal, and thorough approach. He is aware of the “quick-and-easy” methods that are universally advertised but scientifically erroneous. Aside from his scientific expertise, all of Dr. Hazany’s patients praise him for his meticulous approach, compassion, and complete understanding of how scars affect his patients on an emotional level. For this reason, people from all corners of the globe fly to the Scar Healing Institute because of the quality of care and the culture of his practice.
This is my father, Dr. Ebrahim Hazany MD. He is a co-founder of Scar Healing Institute. He had horrible acne scarring in his youth and asked me as a young boy to become a dermatologist so I could solve this problem that so many people face.
